2nd Highest Mountain on Earth

The world's 2nd highest mountain is K2 which is also known as Godwin Austen.

Why K2 is known as Godwin Austen?

        K2 was also named Godwin Austen because the person who surveyed this peak for the first time was Col. H.H Godwin Austen an English geographer.

       K2 is Pakistan's highest mountain the elevation is (28,251 feet[8,611 meters])

Why is k2 mountain called K2?

       K2 mountain is called k2 because it is found in the Karakoram range on the border of Pakistan and China, when they did the survey they gave all the mountains K number.

First successful ascent of k2:

       In July 1954, two Italian climbers Achille Compagoni and Lino Lacedelli

Challenges to face:

    Mountaineers face landslips, storms, and a curse.

The dangerous thing about k2:

     It's enormous very high incredibly steep, and difficult topography than Everest which  means its attacked  by notoriously bad weather

  • Carla Perez was the first woman who climbs Everest or K2 without oxygen.
  • Fewer than 20 females submit this mountain.
Death zone:
    
     The bottleneck is referred to as the death zone of the mountain extending from the C4 shoulder.
  • More than 80 people died at this point.
  • It is estimated that a person can survive 16 to 20 hours in a death zone.
